The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, officially resumed duty for the year on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, following a ceremonial guard of honour mounted in his honour at the Naval Headquarters.
The occasion marked the formal commencement of official Naval Headquarters activities and underscored the enduring traditions that define leadership continuity within the Ghana Navy.
As part of the ceremony, a delegation from the Department of Religious Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces, led by the Director General, Brigadier General Godson Kumi-Woode, offered prayers for the CNS. The prayers invoked guidance, wisdom, and strength for the leadership of the Ghana Navy, with well-wishes for sustained progress and effective stewardship in support of national development.
In his remarks, the CNS expressed appreciation for the spiritual support and called for collective dedication to duty across all ranks. He underscored the need for unity, integrity, and steadfast commitment to the growth and effectiveness of the Ghana Navy, stressing that collective discipline and professionalism are vital to safeguarding maritime security and promoting Ghana’s national development.
The ceremony thus symbolised a renewed commitment by the Ghana Navy’s leadership and personnel to duty, honour, and the steadfast protection of Ghana’s maritime domain.
