Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi is the Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Training
Command. He had his Basic Education at Garrison Basic School, Burma Camp and proceeded
to Okuapemman School, Akropong for his Ordinary Level Certificate in 1980 and later to
the Labone Secondary School, Accra for his Advanced Level Certificate in 1984.
He had both his Junior and Senior Staff Courses at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and
Staff College, Teshie, Accra. Other courses undertaken by Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi
include Patrol Craft Operations in a Riverine Environment Course, (NAVSCIATTS) at the
John Stenis Space Centre, USA in July 2003, Principal Warfare Officers’ Course (PWO),
Maritime Warfare School, Collingwood, Hampshire, UK in August 2007, Diploma in National
Security, Strategy and Policy, and Military Operations at the United States Naval War
College, Newport, Rhode Island, USA in June 2014 and Global Strategic Programme Course

Before his current appointment, Commodore Asiedu-Larbi held various appointments
including Commanding Officer, Ghana Navy Ships ANZONE and YAA ASANTEWAA, Naval
Secretary, Deputy Director, Naval Training at the Naval Headquarters, Course
Director at the KAIPTC and Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Policy and Plans), with
additional responsibility as the Flag Officer Command, Riverine Command between
August 2023 and March 2024.
Between April and December 2005, he was deployed with the United Nations Operations
in La Cote D’Ivoire where he served as the Deputy Chief of J2 Cell (Information),
Sector East Headquarters, Bouake. He also served as the Military Personnel and
Administration Officer (MPA01), G1 Cell at the Force Headquarters of the United
Nations Mission in Liberia between Oct 2009 – Nov 2010.
In November 2014, he was appointed Officer - in-Tactical Command (OTC) of Ghana Navy
Ships YAA ASANTEWA and BLIKA during Ghana Navy’s maiden goodwill visits to Togo and
Benin to enhance maritime security cooperation.
From September 2016 to September 2017, he served as the Sector East Military
Observer Team Leader / Operations Officer, Force HQ Military Observer Cell with the
Multinational United Nations Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MUNISMA).
He was a member of the Maritime Cell of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping
Training Centre (KAIPTC) which undertook the Danish fund project ‘‘Enhancing
Dialogue and Capacity development towards a safer maritime domain in the Gulf of
Guinea” as part of the Danish support for the Gulf of Guinea Maritime Security
Programme.
Commodore Asiedu-Larbi was also a member of Working Groups which drafted the
Strategic Lift Capacity for the African Standby Force in Dakar, Senegal in June
2010, the Maritime Lift Capacity Strategy for the African Standby Force in
Alexandria, Egypt in July 2009 and the Maritime Lift Capacity Concept for the
African Standby Force in Addis Ababa in March 2009.
Commodore Asiedu-Larbi holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Security and
Strategy from King’s College, London and a Master of Arts Degree in International
Affairs from the University of Ghana, Legon. He also holds a Post Graduate
Certificate in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and
Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology with
Botany from the University of Ghana Legon.
The Flag Officer Commanding is happily married to Mrs Margaret Asiedu-Larbi. The
union is blessed with a son, Kojo and a daughter, Nhyira.
The Flag Officer Commanding enjoys listening to reggae and religious music, watching
athletics and playing and watching soccer and hockey.
