Eastern Naval Command is commanded by COMMODORE EMMANUEL AYESU KWAFO
PROFILE OF COMMODORE EMMANUEL AYESU KWAFO
Commodore Emmanuel Ayesu Kwafo, the Flag Officer Commanding the
Eastern Naval Command, was enlisted into the Ghana Armed Forces
in 1987 as part of Regular Career Course Intake 29. He
commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Ghana Navy on 21
February 1991 as an Acting Sub Lieutenant.
The Flag Officer Commanding completed his Ordinary Level and
Advance Level at the Accra Workers College in 1983 and Accra
Polytechnic in 1986. He holds a Master of Arts in International
Affairs from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a Master of
Arts in International Security and Strategy from the Kings
College London. He also holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the
University of London and was called to the Ghana Bar in 2016.
He completed his Junior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command
and Staff College, Jaji-Kaduna, Nigeria in December 1997 and his
Senior Staff Course, at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff
College in August 2002. He graduated as a member of the Royal
College of Defence Studies on 20 July 2018.

He has held numerous appointments. He was the Commanding
Officer of Ghana Navy ship SEBO (September 2002-June 2004)
and YOGAGA (September 2006-August 2007). He also served as
Commanding Officer Basic and Leadership Training School
(August 2005-September 2006) and Naval Trade Training School
(August 2007-January 2009). Others include appointments at
the Naval Headquarters such as the Assistant Director Naval
Operations and Director Naval Training. From September 2013
to July 2016, he was appointed as the National Coordinator
Fisheries Enforcement Unit at the Ministry of Fisheries and
Aquaculture Development and then Deputy Military Secretary
at the General Headquarters in July 2016. From October 2018
to September 2019, he was reappointed to the Ministry of
Fisheries to coordinate fisheries law enforcement. He was
appointed Flag Officer Fleet in September 2019. On 19
February 2020, he was appointed additionally as the Acting
Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command. In June 2020,
he was appointed the Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern
Naval Command till date.
Commodore Kwafo has also served as United Nations Military
Observer in his tours to Liberia from June 2004 - June 2005
and United Nations Organisation Mission in the Democratic
Republic of the Congo from January 2009 to 2010.
He is married with two children and enjoys football and
chess.
