COMMODORE AGAMBIRE TAKES OVER AS FLAG OFFICER FLEET

Commodore James Adongo Agambire has assumed office as Flag Officer Fleet (FOF), following a formal handing and taking over ceremony with Naval Captain John Bekuin-Wurapa at the Fleet Headquarters. The transition marked a change in leadership within the Fleet and reaffirmed the importance of continuity of command, professionalism and operational readiness.

At the formal change of command ceremony held at the Naval Base Sekondi earlier, the Guest of Honour, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command (WNC) and 2 Garrison Commander, Commodore Stephen Billins Nyam, commended Naval Captain Bekuin-Wurapa for his dedicated service, effective leadership and contributions to sustaining the Fleet’s operational readiness and safeguarding Ghana’s maritime domain.

Commodore Nyam charged the incoming Flag Officer Fleet to build on the achievements of his predecessor, uphold the core values of the Ghana Navy and ensure the effective execution of the Fleet’s operational responsibilities.

In his farewell address, Naval Captain Bekuin-Wurapa expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Ghana Navy, Officers and Ratings of the Fleet for their cooperation and support throughout his tenure. He acknowledged their collective efforts in fulfilling the Fleet’s mandate and urged them to extend the same commitment to his successor. He also expressed confidence in Commodore Agambire’s ability to sustain the Fleet’s operational effectiveness.

Prior to the handover, Naval Captain Bekuin-Wurapa held a farewell durbar with personnel at the Harry Seshie Drill Shed, providing an opportunity to interact with them ahead of the formal transfer of command.

Commodore Agambire was received by Officers and Senior Rates of the Fleet upon his assumption of office before inspecting a Quarter Guard mounted in his honour. He subsequently held a briefing session with Staff Officers to familiarise himself with the Fleet’s operational, administrative and logistical activities.

The transition underscores the Ghana Navy’s commitment to effective leadership, institutional continuity and teamwork in maintaining operational readiness and fulfilling its constitutional mandate.

The ceremonies were attended by some Retired officers including Commodore Addison (Rtd), Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Command Coxswains and Senior Rates.
