The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) held a colourful Handing and Taking Over Ceremony where Commodore (Cdre) Solomon Asiedu-Larbi formally handed over command to Cdre Raymond Kyaano as the new Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) ENC on Wednesday, 19 August 2026. The ceremony also featured the commissioning of a newly constructed Senior Rates’ Mess for the Command.
In his farewell address, Cdre Asiedu-Larbi expressed gratitude to God, the Military High Command, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing and personnel of the ENC for their support during his tenure.
As he assumes his new appointment as Ghana’s Defence Attaché to Libya, he pledged to uphold the dignity of the office and urged personnel to maintain unity, mutual respect and a shared sense of purpose under the leadership of his successor.
The ceremony closed with presentations of citations, gifts and tokens of appreciation to Cdre Asiedu-Larbi for his service.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters, Cdre Ben Baba Abdul, Tema East Member of Parliament Isaac Ashai Odamtten, France’s Defence Attaché, Colonel Grégoire Madelin, and several retired and serving generals.
