The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) organised its 2025 End-of-Year West Africa Soldiers Social Activities (WASSA) on Friday, 2 January 2026, at the Dei-Arms Square, Naval Base Tema, bringing together Officers, Ratings, Defence Civilian Staff, and dignitaries for a day of competitions, cultural displays, and recognition.
Activities featured stripping and assembling drills, cultural performances, live band performances, and more.
The Guest of Honour for the event, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Akoto Bonsu (Rtd), commended ENC personnel for their unwavering dedication and selfless service to the nation, urging senior ratings to mentor younger sailors.
Flag Officer Commanding, ENC, Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, delivered inspiring remarks spotlighting the Command's 2025 achievements in safeguarding the maritime corridor from Winneba to Aflao through sustained patrols and joint operations. He expressed gratitude to key collaborators, including the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, GHACEM, Lele Group of Companies, Vehrad Company Ltd, and others, for their vital contributions to operations and welfare, rallying all ranks to uphold professionalism and unity heading into 2026.
Awards celebrated outstanding performers, with Mr Amos Tetteey Nartey being recognised as Overall Best Teacher in the Naval Base School, and Asiedu Kwame as Best Medical Personnel. Other honourees included CPOI Amenu Saviour, CPOI Bruce-Arthur Isaac, CPOII Pamful Ebenezer, CPOII Adu Osafo Seth, POI Napari Isaiah Kwame, LS Kwao Raphel, and LS Anertey Djagbeley Joyce.
Honourable Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Member of Parliament for Tema East, joined the festivities with other dignitaries.
