The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) has held a Street Naming Ceremony for selected past Coxswains at the Biekro Barracks on Wednesday, 13 November 2024 in Tema.
The Guest of Honour, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) ENC, Commodore Maxwell Arhen, acknowledged the initiative led by Master Coxswain, Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO) Kpormego, to name the streets within Biekro Barracks for enhanced identification.
In his address, Commodore Arhen emphasized the significance of the ceremony in honoring the extraordinary contributions of retired Fleet and Chief Petty Officers. He articulated that their unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and service to the Navy have not only shaped the institution but have also served as a source of inspiration for others. He underscored that these Senior Rates represent the backbone of the Navy, establishing a strategic connection between higher command and tactical operations.
Furthermore, Commodore Arhen expressed that the streets of Biekro Barracks serve as a testament to the collective spirit of excellence exhibited by the Master Coxswains, who dedicated their lives to national service. He highlighted the exceptional commitment and leadership demonstrated by these individuals, stating that they have set a commendable standard that resonates throughout the Navy. Their enduring legacy is intricately woven into the very fabric of the institution.
The FOC urged Navy personnel to remain proactive and dedicated, taking inspiration from the honored Coxswains. He encouraged them to embody the values and principles of integrity, excellence, and commitment in their daily duties.
Ex-MCPO Abotsi Moses Kodzo, representing the honoured coxswains, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Navy High Command for this esteemed recognition. He acknowledged that the achievements celebrated were the result of individual dedication and steadfast purpose. He remarked that this ceremony serves as an encouragement for others to emulate their commitment to hard work. Ex-MCPO Kodzo also emphasized the importance of planning for retirement, urging personnel to take full advantage of available opportunities.
The retired Master Coxswains honoured during this event include Ex-MCPO Dzorvakpor Patrick, Ex-MCPO Homatekpor Thaddeus, Ex-MCPO Abotsi Moses Kodzo, Ex-MCPO Mishiame Gilbert Komla, Ex-MCPO Addo Quaye Daniel and Ex-FCPO Quaye William.
