The Ghana Navy has honoured Commodore (Cdre) Samuel Angmor with a farewell reception on Thursday, 27 October 2022 at the Naval Wardroom, Accra. The ceremony was to celebrate his remarkable and industrious contributions made over thirty-seven years of dedication and loyal service to the colours.
The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama commended the Senior Officer for his enormous contributions towards the accomplishments of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Yakubu, in his remarks eulogized Cdre Angmor as an astute Marine Engineer Officer worthy of honour and emulation. He added that Cdre Angmore has mentored a number of officers as he was a great teacher to young officers who had the opportunity to work with him. CNS further mentioned that the Senior Officers’ retirement had left a void that would be very difficult to fill in the Ghana Navy, however he was optimistic the guidance, knowledge and positive work ethics he passed on to people he worked with would make his exit from the service much bearable.
He congratulated him for his exemplary leadership and outstanding achievements and urged him to enjoy each day of his retirement and continually offer his best to the world. “I wish you all the best in all your endeavours. May you enjoy the days ahead of you, it is my hope you would continue to support the Navy and GAF whenever we call on you”, he added.
Cdre Angmor expressed his profound gratitude to God for bringing him this far, and was grateful to the Military High Command for a career enrichment opportunity which has undoubtedly deepened his career fulfillment in the Ghana Navy and the honour bestowed on him and his family. He also entreated the Naval High Command to resource the Research and Development department, as well as adequately collaborate with indigenous companies to produce ship parts locally to help alleviate some of the constraints faced with the Navy.
Cdre Samuel Angmor was enlisted into the Ghana Military Academy as a Naval Cadet on 2 November 1984 and proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was later commissioned into the Technical Branch of the Ghana Navy on 13 October 1989.
He served in various appointments ashore and afloat and made a huge impact by flying high the flag of the Ghana Navy.
In recognition of his exemplary service, Cdre Angmor was presented with special gifts including a set of living room furniture from the Naval High Command and a citation to celebrate his retirement.
