The Turkish Defence Attaché (DA) to Ghana, Colonel (Col) Ahmet Pakis paid a working visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu at the Naval Headquarters on Wednesday 25 September 2024, to foster maritime cooperation and training between the two countries.
The Turkish DA expressed appreciation for the warm reception and highlighted the importance of cooperation in maritime security. As the newly appointed DA to Ghana, he expressed his commitment to strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the maritime domain.
Rear Admiral Yakubu on his part expressed gratitude to the DA for the visit and urged him to consider including training programs for Ghana Navy officers in Turkiye, emphasising that such opportunities could provide invaluable knowledge and experience.
He underscored the importance of specialised training for personnel of the Ghana Navy in navigating modern maritime challenges. “Investing in the training of our officers is crucial for maintaining security in our waters.,” he stated.
The CNS presented a plaque and also decorated the Turkish DA with a customized Ghana Navy stole to strengthen the ties between the two countries. The DA also presented a plaque to the CNS.
