The leadership of the Centre for Maritime Development and Technology (CeMaDeT), Lieutenant Commander (Lt Cdr) Joshua Agbenyenu, and Selasi Yao Avornyo from the Department of Marine and Fisheries Science of the University of Ghana, have presented a 3D art work of Ghana's waters to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu on Monday 19 June 2023 at the Naval Headquarters, Burma Camp.
The 3D artwork depicts Ghana’s coastlines, continental shelve and exhibits the disposition of maritime activities including oil exploration, fishing and naval patrols.
Lt Cdr Agbenyenu, in his presentation, indicated that the 3D artwork formed part of maritime initiatives and objectives of CeMaDeT which aims at supporting efforts geared towards the attainment of the United Nation’s (UN)’s sustainable development goals 13 and 14, are geared towards climate action and live below water.
These goals aim at taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impact, conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. He further indicated that the artwork would serve as a model for future maritime operational planning activities.
The CNS, Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, was elated on the receipt of the 3D artwork and commended CeMaDeT on the initiative.
He indicated that the innovation was remarkable and would contribute immensely to advance and promote activities within the maritime sector.
