As part of ongoing efforts to engage directly with personnel and reinforce his strategic vision for the Ghana Navy, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, paid his maiden visit to the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) at Nutekpor last Thursday.
The visit formed part of the CNS’ wider familiarization tour of key naval establishments, aimed at assessing operational readiness, addressing challenges, and outlining his command philosophy and priorities for the years ahead.
Upon arrival, the CNS was received by the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) NAVTRAC, Commodore James Adongo Agambire, who delivered a comprehensive briefing on the Command’s operations, training activities, logistical needs, and ongoing development projects.
During a durbar with all ranks, the CNS reaffirmed his commitment to positioning the Ghana Navy as a combat-ready, credible, and cohesive force, with the capacity to adapt to emerging security challenges.
He emphasized a people-centred approach to leadership and highlighted core areas of focus for his administration, including, maritime security and sovereignty protection, force readiness and professional development. Other areas of focus included infrastructure improvement and enhanced collaboration with regional and international partners.
Rear Admiral Bessing commended the personnel of NAVTRAC for their hard work, discipline, and professionalism. He encouraged them to remain committed to excellence in training and operations in support of the Navy’s overarching strategic objectives.
The CNS was later conducted round the Command’s key facilities and ongoing infrastructure projects to gain firsthand insight into the state of the training environment.
