The Eastern Naval Command (ENC), in collaboration with the Naval Wives Association (NAWA), hosted an end-of-year children's celebration at Dei-Arms Square, Naval Base, Tema, on Saturday, 20 December 2025.
Under the theme “Bonded by Family, United in Fun,” the event featured activities such as musical chairs, sack races, face painting, bouncing castles, as well as the presentation of gifts and awards to honour the bonds within the naval family.
Mrs Gifty Bessing, President of NAWA and wife of the Chief of the Naval Staff, acknowledged the sacrifices made by families as the true foundation of the Ghana Navy, emphasising that the Navy's strength lies in family unity, love, and support beyond ships and uniforms. She expressed appreciation to the sponsors for making the day memorable.
Guest of Honour, Mrs Esther Kwakye Agyapong, Wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, urged wives to demonstrate patience, understanding, and unwavering support for their husbands, emphasising their pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency and morale as silent yet invaluable partners in national service.
She encouraged children, describing them as the future of the Armed Forces, praised NAWA's efforts to promote unity, and extended gratitude to sponsors, including ENC, Lele Group, Perla Mineral Water, and TT Brothers.
The Flag Officer Commanding, ENC, Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, the wife of former Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu and former NAWA President, Mrs Salamatu Yakubu and Mrs Patience Adeti Gbetanu, wife of the Chief of the Army Staff, graced the occasion.
The event concluded with messages of goodwill, prayers, and Christmas wishes, fostering hope for peace and prosperity within the naval community.
