The Commissioner General of the Ghana Boundary Commission (GBC), Major General Emmanuel Wekem Kotia, paid a goodwill visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu on Tuesday 4 June 2024 at the Naval Headquarters, Burma Camp.
The Commissioner General and CNS discussed issues of mutual interest, including the security of Ghana's territorial boundaries and the need for enhanced collaboration between the Ghana Boundary Commission and the Ghana Navy in enforcing the country's maritime boundaries.
Major General Kotia commended the Ghana Navy for their efforts in protecting the country's maritime domain and expressed his appreciation for the support received from the Navy in the Commission's surveillance activities along the western maritime boundary line. He stated that plans were far advanced to procure an additional drone to augment the Ghana Navy’s surveillance activities.
Rear Admiral Yakubu assured the Commissioner General of the Navy's continued support and cooperation in ensuring the security of Ghana's boundaries. He also expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts between the two organizations, such as the training of its personnel in drone piloting, which has led to a significant reduction in illegal activities along the country's maritime borders.
They both exchanged plaques to further strengthen their collaboration in the areas of training, border security and surveillance.
