Fleet Chief Petty Officer Class One (FCPO1) Kpormego Joseph Kwashie took over the Helm of Command as Master Coxswain of the Ghana Navy from Master Chief Petty Officer Mishiame (MCPO) Gilbert Komla on Friday 1 March 2023.
The colourful ceremony which took place at the Senior Rates Mess, Burma Camp, was witnessed by the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu who was the Guest of Honour for the occasion.
Having served over twenty-seven (27) years with the colours, the CNS described the outgone Master Coxswain as one who was dedicated to duty, loyal and exhibited exceptional leadership qualities worthy of emulation. He added that, MCPO Mishiame was an astute and industrious person who had passion for the military.
The CNS further expressed gratitude to MCPO Mishiame for his enormous support extended to Officers, Ratings and the Navy during his tenure of office. He wished him well in his endeavours as he proceeded on retirement.
In his remarks, the outgone Master Coxswain acknowledged the support of the CNS, past CNS’s, the Military High Command and the entire Navy for the support and cooperation received throughout his industrious and meritorious naval career and was hopeful that same would be extended to his successor.
The newly appointed Master Coxswain on his part congratulated his predecessor for the yeoman’s job which had charted the path for him to achieve greater strides. He assured all and sundry that, he will put in his best to propel and secure further gains for the Ghana Navy.
The ceremony was witnessed by some Senior Officers, Forces Sergeant Major, Ratings and Defence Civilian Staff of the Navy. Also present were spouses of the Master Coxswains, members of Naval Wives Association, friends and families.
