The Special Boats Squadron (SBS) of the Ghana Navy held a graduation parade for five newly trained operatives into the elite unit on Tuesday 13 August 2024 at the SBS Training Camp in the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Nutekpor in the Volta Region.
The graduation is the third of the Basic Operative Capability Course (BOCC) ran by the training division of the unit with support from the Frogman Corps of the Danish Navy Special Warfare Group and the US Marine Corps Forces Africa.
The Flag Officer Commanding NAVTRAC, Cdre Solomon Asiedu-Larbi who was the Guest of Honour, congratulated the five operatives for successfully going through the six-month gruelling training that was aimed at transforming them from ordinary sailors to elite ones.
The FOC admonished the new operatives not to forget the weight of their responsibilities while urging them to conduct themselves with honour, integrity, courage and an unwavering commitment to righteousness, even during adversities.
The Training Coordinator of NAVTRAC, Capt (GN) Theophilus Agbemabiese on his part, highlighted the crucial role the SBS plays in the Ghana Armed Forces especially as a formidable pillar in the Ghana Navy. He praised the newly trained operatives for their bravery, skill and dedication, citing their ability to train in challenging environments and adapt to unpredictable situations.
The Commanding Officer of the Special Boats Squadron, Commander Anthony Seth Dzarkpasu read the course report for BOCC 3 and conferred on the graduands the title of Operatives. He advised them to continue in the spirit of teamwork, maintain inquisitive minds and be ready to assimilate new knowledge.
Awards were presented to deserving operatives who excelled in various fields during the Course.
