The Ghana Navy Logistics Department has held its maiden Logistics Officers Convention with the theme “Enhancing the capacity of the Logistic Officer in order to meet the demands of an expanding Navy”.
The Convention took place at the School of Marine Engineering and Combat Systems (SMECS) at the Western Naval Command, from Monday 22 May to Friday 26 May 2023. The Convention brought together participants, who were mainly logistics officers of the Ghana Navy. Representatives of Ghana Gas and Tullow Oil PLC served as resource persons for the Convention. The Guest of Honour for the opening ceremony was the Director General in charge of Logistics at the General Headquarters, Commodore (Cdre) Agyenim-Boateng.
In his closing remarks, the Flag Officer Fleet, Cdre Atiayao, extended his profound gratitude to stakeholders of the Convention, particularly to the High Command, the Special Guest of honour, and CO SMECS, Commander Tchum for spearheading a result-oriented convention. He stressed that the Convention served as a platform for fruitful deliberations with young officers to familiarize with their superiors in order to acquire knowledge to enhance their roles as Logistics Officers in the Ghana Navy. Cdre Atiayao was optimistic that the convention with the stakeholders will bolster efficiency in the discharge of duties in the command structure of the Ghana Navy.
The participants issued a communique at the end of the convention and Cdre Atiayao assured that it will be given the desired action.
