The Brazilian Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Mariana Madeira, has pledged to strengthen maritime cooperation with the Ghana Navy to enhance security in the Gulf of Guinea.
The Ambassador who was accompanied by the Brazilian Defence Attaché to Ghana and Nigeria, Colonel Anderson Ramos, made the statement when she called on the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing at the Naval Headquarters on Friday 9 May 2025.
Their discussions highlighted the partnership between the Ghana and Brazilian Navies, as part of efforts in enhancing capacity-building, facilitate training in the maritime sector and strengthening the existing relationship between the two countries.
Rear Admiral Bessing reaffirmed the Ghana Navy’s commitment in strengthening military ties with Brazil, emphasising the need for the cooperation in addressing challenges in the Gulf of Guinea.
As a symbol of friendship and cooperation, gifts were exchanged between the CNS and the Brazilian Ambassador.
