The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu has held his annual conference for 2023 with a call on the leadership of the Ghana Navy to deliberate on issues confronting the Ghana Navy, find solutions to the challenges and as well plan for the future of the Navy.

The 2-day conference which was under the theme, ‘Strengthening leadership towards accomplishing agenda 2024’ started on Thursday, 23 February 2023 and ended on Friday, 24 February 2023 at the Naval Headquarters, Burma Camp.

The CNS, Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu in his opening address said the conference over the years had been a calendar event that has afforded the Naval hierarchy the platform to brainstorm, share ideas and bring to bare transforming policies for the development of the Ghana Navy. He stated that the conference was to cross-examine the year 2022 and strategize for the year 2023 to aid the realisation of the mandate of the Ghana Navy.

Rear Admiral Yakubu applauded all personnel of the Ghana Navy for the hard work, dedication and commitment to duty which had brought glory to the Navy despite limited resources. He added that leadership and innovation were critical in these trying times to build on the legacy left by their predecessors.

He also urged Commander’s to continue to strengthen leadership at all levels to consolidate their achievements which would leave a lasting legacy. ‘Leadership is not about identifying problems and pointing them out, you must try to think through solutions outside the box’, he added.

The CNS assured that his outfit would do its best to offer transparent leadership to boost the morale of troops in the Ghana Navy. He also advised the commanders to prioritize the welfare of Officers and Sailors assigned under them, to offer them a sound mind in performing their mandated task, as well as  explore innovative ways to accomplish set goals.

He highlighted on some of the major milestones chalked by the Ghana Navy over the period since his assumption of office. He was optimistic that innovative ideas would foster the success of the Agenda 2024.
