The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, has been inducted as Patron of the Association of Retired Naval Officers (ARNO) by Executives of the association.
The delegation paid a visit to the CNS at the Naval Headquarters on Wednesday 8 May 2025, and was led by the Chairman, Commodore Steve Obimpeh (Rtd), who also used the occasion to officially congratulate Rear Admiral Bessing on his recent appointment as CNS.
During the visit, Commodore Obimpeh (Rtd) pledged ARNO's full support to CNS, expressing their willingness for a more sustained collaboration in achieving his vision for the Navy. He also offered prayers for divine guidance for Rear Admiral Bessing in his new role.
Rear Admiral Bessing, on his part, expressed gratitude for the visit and the well wishes bestowed upon him. He assured the ARNO executives of his unwavering support for the association and emphasized the importance of building upon existing relationships within the Navy.
As a gesture of welcome and affiliation, Commodore Obimpeh presented a customized, hand-woven ARNO Kente stole to the CNS.
