The Director General (DG) Ghana Maritime Authority, (GMA) Captain (GN) Dr Kamal-Deen Ali (Rtd), paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Naval Staff, (CNS), Vice Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu on Thursday 6 February 2025 at the Naval Headquarters.
The purpose of the visit was to formally introduce himself as the newly appointed DG GMA to the CNS and also engage in a discourse that would strengthen bilateral relationship between Ghana Navy and GMA.
The CNS congratulated Dr Kamal-Deen Ali on his appointment and expressed Ghana Navy's enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the interdependent roles of the two institutions.
With a wealth of experience in both the Navy and now Maritime Authority, Vice Admiral Yakubu was optimistic the new DG GMA could help bridge existing gaps and improve maritime governance in Ghana, while assuring him of Ghana Navy's support.
Captain (GN) Dr Kamal-Deen (Rtd) was highly appreciative of the CNS’ congratulatory gesture, noting it signified the Navy's support in helping address various challenges in the maritime sector and also serving as a pivot for collaboration with other maritime agencies.
He expressed gratitude on behalf of his family to the Military High Command and senior officers in the Navy noting he was looking forward to fostering stronger relations, generating great ideas and engaging in deeper conversations with stakeholders and other agencies in the maritime jurisdiction.
