The Ghana Navy Band has launched activities to commemorate its 60th anniversary at the Owusu Ansah Hall of the Naval Headquarters on Wednesday 7 October 2026. The anniversary is being celebrated under the theme, “The Sound of Service: Celebrating 60 Years of Musical Finesse in the Ghana Navy Band,” recognising the Band’s contribution to the ceremonial and public life of the Ghana Navy through music and performances.
Guest of Honour and Managing Director of Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, Ms Yang Yang, pledged her support towards the continued development and modernisation of the Band. She commended generations of bandsmen for their discipline, dedication and professionalism, and called for sustained investment in training, equipment and facilities.
The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate six decades of dedication, discipline, resilience and service. He noted that the Band remained an integral part of the Navy’s ceremonial traditions and an important link between the Ghana Navy and the public.
Rear Admiral Bessing urged members of the Band to preserve its rich traditions while embracing innovation, enhancing their professional skills and upholding the standards of the Ghana Navy as they lead the Band into its next chapter.
The anniversary celebration includes a free band promo and media engagement in the month of October in selected venues across the nation aimed at giving back to society and strengthening civil-military relations, a health walk and medical screening, the grand Navy Band Concert in November and a Thanksgiving Service and Religious Parade in December respectively.
