GNS ANZONE Division emerged as the overall best division at the just-ended Inter-Division Steeplechase Competition organised by the Naval Recruit Training School (NRTS) on Friday 28 August 2026, at the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Nutekpor. The competition formed part of the recruits’ military training programme and was aimed at enhancing their physical fitness, endurance, agility, coordination, and mental resilience, while promoting teamwork and healthy competition among the divisions.
The event tested the recruits’ ability to complete a 12-kilometre race while negotiating various obstacles and maintaining speed, balance, discipline, and determination throughout the course. It also provided an opportunity for the recruits to demonstrate the physical and mental attributes developed through their military training.
Addressing the recruits, the Guest of Honour and Training Coordinator, NAVTRAC, Naval Captain (Capt GN) David Dela Kpetigo, commended them for their determination and endurance displayed during the competition.
He noted that physical fitness was an essential component of military training and encouraged the recruits to maintain the discipline, resilience, and commitment demonstrated throughout the exercise. He urged them to continue developing themselves physically and mentally, stressing that the qualities acquired through such activities would contribute to their effectiveness and readiness as future military personnel.
