A two-member delegation from Karpowership Ghana Company Limited, led by its Managing Director, Mr Oscar Amonoo-Neizer, paid a courtesy call on the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command (WNC), Commodore Stephen Billins Nyam.
The visit was to formally congratulate Commodore Nyam on his assumption as the FOC WNC and to brief him on the completion of technical remediation works at his official residence.
Briefing the FOC, Mr Amonoo-Neizer explained that the power transmission authorities had resolved localised safety and noise concerns raised by residents in the area following a targeted technical investigation and on-site remediation works.
He said initial concerns had centered on persistent high-pitched chafing noises along window frames and visible cracks in the floor, which had raised fears among residents that nearby high-voltage grid equipment could be responsible for structural damage.
Mr Amonoo-Neizer further explained that specialised consultants had determined that the structural fissures were caused by natural shifts in the underlying bedrock rather than activities associated with the power grid. The findings, he noted, had effectively cleared the facility of fault and brought closure to concerns raised by the community.
In response, Commodore Nyam expressed appreciation to Mr Amonoo-Neizer and his team for the comprehensive briefing. He commended Karpowership Ghana for its swift intervention, thorough investigation and commitment to addressing the concerns.
The FOC further expressed appreciation to the company's efforts towards maintaining strong institutional relations, and ensuring that concerns affecting neighbouring communities were promptly addressed.
