Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with Pope John Old Boys Association, held a Maiden Annual Public Lecture in honour of the late Honourable Dr (Med) Edward Kofi Omane Boamah at Burma Hall, Burma Camp, on Tuesday 4 August 2026. The lecture was organised to celebrate the life and legacy of the former Minister for Defence, who served from February to August 2025 until his untimely death in a helicopter crash on 6 August 2025.
The Acting Minister for Defence, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, described the late Dr Omane Boamah as a dedicated public servant who contributed immensely to strengthening the Ghana Armed Forces and promoting professionalism. He noted that the annual lecture would preserve his ideas, promote leadership and inspire future generations.
Speaking on the topic, “Selfless Leadership in Public Service: Lessons from the Life and Legacy of the Late Dr Omane Boamah,” Very Reverend Father Dr Ebenezer Akesseh described the late Minister as a humble and principled leader who viewed public service as a responsibility and remained committed to serving the nation with integrity.
Chairman for the occasion, Dr Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodie, President of the Ghana Employers Association and Group Chief Executive Officer of CDH Financial Holdings Limited, extoled the late Dr Omane Boamah for his exemplary leadership, innovation and commitment to national development.
The event was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, government officials, the Military High Command, senior officers, clergy, traditional authorities, family members and other distinguished guests who gathered to honour the late Minister’s enduring legacy.
