The Naval Wives Association (NAWA) of the Western Naval Command (WNC) has embarked on a health walk followed by a sea trip on Saturday, 25 July 2026, as part of activities marking the Association's 2026 Week Celebration.
The event brought together wives of naval personnel and other guests who participated in the exercise aimed at promoting healthy living, physical fitness, and social interaction among members of the naval community.
The health walk commenced from the Western Naval Command Headquarters at the Naval Base Sekondi and proceeded through selected principal streets within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis before returning to the starting point. Participants engaged in brisk walking and aerobic exercises designed to encourage healthy lifestyles and improve physical well-being.
Addressing participants after the walk, the Coordinator of the NAWA WNC Branch, Mrs Selina Ayelazono, underscored the importance of regular physical activity in maintaining good health and preventing lifestyle-related diseases. She noted that the activity formed part of the Association's commitment to promoting the welfare and well-being of its members and their families.
Following the health walk, participants embarked on an exciting sea trip on board Ghana Navy Ship PRA. The trip provided members with a unique opportunity to experience life at sea and gain a deeper appreciation of the operational environment in which naval personnel work.
The sea trip also served as a recreational activity that strengthened camaraderie among members while exposing them to the Ghana Navy's maritime role.
