The outgoing 2 Garrison Education Officer (GEO), Lieutenant Colonel Saviour Hadjah, and the incoming GEO, Major Theophilus Twumasi Assumang, have paid a courtesy call on the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command (WNC), Commodore Stephen Billins Nyam as part of activities marking the transition between the two officers.
The courtesy call formed part of Major Assumang’s familiarisation programme following his appointment as the new 2 GEO. It provided an opportunity for the incoming officer to formally introduce himself to the FOC and engage with the Command on matters concerning education within the Garrison.
During the interaction, Lieutenant Colonel Hadjah expressed appreciation to the FOC and the leadership of WNC for the support and cooperation extended to him throughout his tenure as the GEO.He also highlighted some of the initiatives and developments undertaken during his tenure, particularly efforts towards improving educational infrastructure, supporting teaching and learning, and maintaining discipline and academic standards across schools under 2 Garrison.
Major Assumang, on his part, assured the FOC of his commitment to building on the achievements of Lieutenant Colonel Hadjah and working closely with school authorities, teachers and other stakeholders to further improve academic performance, discipline, teacher support and infrastructure.
The FOC, in his remarks, commended Lieutenant Colonel Hadjah for his service and contribution to the educational development of the Garrison. He also welcomed Major Assumang and urged him to sustain the gains made while identifying new opportunities to enhance the quality of education within the Command.
He emphasised the importance of discipline, professionalism and academic excellence in preparing young people for the future. He encouraged the incoming GEO to maintain close engagement with school authorities and ensure that the educational institutions under the Garrison continued to uphold the values and standards expected of them.
