The Paramount Chief of Jama Traditional Council of the Savannah Region, Nnaa Professor Lanjagor Karley II, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu on Wednesday 15 January 2025 at the Naval Headquarters.
The visit sought to discuss matters of mutual interest and also congratulate the CNS on his promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral.
In an interaction with the CNS, Nnaa Professor Karley said there was the need for a collaboration between his Region and the Ghana Navy to help develop local communities, as there exist lands which the Navy can utilize to establish a Forward Operating Base in future.
The Paramount Chief called for support from the Navy to provide the locals in the Region with life jackets in order to prevent loss of lives as previously recorded.
The CNS on his part, stressed on the crucial role the Navy plays in safeguarding backwaters and facilitating safe transport, contributing to regional stability and economic growth.
Vice Admiral Yakubu said it is necessary for traditional leaders and the military to work jointly to enhance security and economic activities in the sub region.
The visit saw the exchange of souvenirs between the Paramount Chief and the CNS.
