Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing assumed command as the new Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), in a brief but colourful ceremony at the Naval Headquarters (NHQ) on Monday, 24 March 2025.
The ceremony began with a thanksgiving service at the Saint Catherine Catholic Church, Burma Camp, where the CNS and his family, accompanied by senior naval officers and other dignitaries, worshipped and offered prayers for divine guidance and wisdom.
Following the church service, Rear Admiral Bessing proceeded to the Naval Headquarters, where he inspected a guard mounted in his honour. He exchanged pleasantries with Flag Officers Commanding, the Chief Staff Officer at the NHQ, Deputy Chief Staff Officers, Directors, officers, ratings and Defence Civilian Staff of NHQ.
