The Retired Naval Personnel Association (RENPA) has held its annual Get-Together on Saturday, 17 January 2026, at the Senior Rates Mess located at the Ghana Navy Supply Base (GNSB), Takoradi.
The Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command (FOC WNC), Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, who was the Special Guest of Honour, expressed his pleasure to be in the company of men and women who had dedicated their best years to the service of the sea and the nation.
He added that RENPA stands as proof that retirement was not an end but a new chapter where fellowship continued, wisdom was shared, and bonds forged at sea remain unbroken on land, and also provided a pool of knowledge and experience from which active service men could tap into for the good of the service.
He commended the leadership of RENPA for sustaining the association and for providing a platform that promotes unity, welfare, and other values of the service even after retirement. He thanked the families present for the invaluable support which has led the Ghana Navy to deliver on its mandate.
The Chairman of RENPA, Ex Chief Petty Officer Class One (Ex CPOI) Osei Bonsu, in his opening remarks, stated that the occasion of the Get-Together was not only about celebration but an opportunity to reflect on the journey, to strengthen bonds that unite retired personnel and to look forward with renewed purpose.
He reminded members of RENPA to participate actively through attendance at meetings, fulfillment of obligations and involvement in all programmes since an association strives not merely by name, but by the commitment of its members. Ex CPOI Osei Bonsu hinted at the year's shared challenges but added that through discipline, unity, mutual support and steadfastness, they were able to sail through. He encouraged every retired personnel to join the association because it is a family built on shared service, sacrifice and loyalty.
He acknowledged the cooperation and support of the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) and FOC WNC in the activities and achievements of RENPA.
The event brought together the Flag Officer Fleet (FOF), Naval Captain John Bekuin-Wurapa, Commanding Officer GNSB, Commander Sabina Dennisson, Command Supply Officer (COSO), Lieutenant Commander Al-hassan Kennedy, Executive members of RENPA and Veterans.
