The Riby Williams Mess held an Initiation, Elevation and Reaffirmation Ceremony, alongside a farewell and handing-over event, on Friday, 15 May 2026, at the Riby Williams Mess, Burma Camp.
The traditional ceremony officially inducted the promotees into the Senior Rates Mess and celebrated their advancement in rank within the Ghana Navy structure.The event also featured the official handing and taking over between the immediate past President of the Mess Committee (PMC), CPO1 Obiri Frank, and the current PMC, CPO1 Yakubu George. Additionally, members of Batch 62 were honoured for their dedicated service and contributions to the Ghana Navy.The Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters and Guest of Honour for the ceremony, Commodore Ben Baba Abdul, acknowledged the commitment and contributions of Batch 62 towards the growth and development of the Ghana Navy. He urged the newly initiated and elevated members to uphold integrity, selflessness and innovation, while embracing leadership with courage, humility and discipline.Commodore Abdul further described the handing and taking over ceremony as a symbol of continuity and responsibility within the service. He commended the outgoing committee for its stewardship and charged the new leadership to serve with fairness, commitment and professionalism.The immediate past Master Coxswain of the Ghana Navy, Ex-Master Chief Petty Officer Ayelvae Lawrence, encouraged ratings to work in unity to strengthen bonds within the service. He also underscored the importance of discipline, dedication and mentorship in enhancing cooperation and efficiency within the Ghana Navy.
