A delegation from the West Africa Pipeline Company (WAPCo) and the West Africa Gas Pipeline Authority (WAGPA) paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, at the Naval Headquarters on Thursday 8 May 2025.
The delegation led by the General Manager in charge of Operations at WAPCo, Mr Anwal Ibrahim expressed recognition and appreciation for the good work being done by the Ghana Navy in ensuring the safety and security of the pipelines offshore. "The Ghana Navy's efforts have been instrumental in protecting the pipelines from security threats", he stated.
The WAPCo and WAGPA delegation commended the Ghana Navy for creating a safe and secure environment for the pipeline operations. They noted that the Navy's efforts have been crucial in ensuring the uninterrupted flow of gas through the pipeline.
The CNS welcomed the delegation and emphasised the importance of cooperation and partnership between the Ghana Navy and the pipeline companies. He assured the delegation that the Ghana Navy would continue to provide security and support to the pipeline operations.
The CNS presented plaques to the two pipeline companies to strengthen the already existing partnership between them.
Present at the meeting were the Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore (Cdre) Ben Baba Abdul, Deputy Chief Staff Officer in charge of Operations and Training, Cdre Stephen Nyam and the Director Naval Intelligence, Commander Philip Odoi-Narh.
