The Western Naval Command (WNC) has held a short ceremony to honour its Defence Civilian Staff attached to the Command who have successfully retired from active service after years of dedicated and meritorious service to the Ghana Armed Forces.
The ceremony, which was held at the Harry Seshie Drill Shed, Sekondi Naval Base, on Thursday, 14 May 2026, was aimed to celebrate the retirees for their commitment, loyalty and invaluable contributions to the Command.
Addressing the gathering, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command (WNC), Commodore Samuel Ayelazonov expressed appreciation to the retired staff for their dedication and professionalism throughout their years of service. He noted that their hard work and sacrifices contributed immensely to the smooth administration and operational effectiveness of the Command. He further encouraged them to remain ambassadors of the Ghana Armed Forces and wished them success and good health in their retirement.
The retired staff also expressed gratitude to the Command and their colleagues for the support and cooperation they enjoyed during their service. They described their years at the Western Naval Command as fulfilling and memorable.
As part of the ceremony, the retirees were presented with citations, fridges, and undisclosed amounts of money as a sign of appreciation in recognition of their selfless service to the Command and the Ghana Armed Forces.
