The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Yakubu, paid a courtesy call on the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Hisanobu Mochizak at his residence on 16 July, 2024.
Ambassador Hisanobu and the CNS had fruitful deliberations, especially on issues bothering on security. The Ambassador took the opportunity to explain the contributions of Dr Noguchi to medical research in Ghana, particularly in the field of yellow fever.
He narrated how Dr Noguchi contracted Yellow Fever and died in the Gold Coast in 1928; Reason the Noguchi memorial research institute was named after him.
He showed to the CNS the well preserved Microscope that was used by Noguchi in his research into Yellow Fever in the Gold Coast in 1927.
Rear Admiral Yakubu expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and the briefing. He also acknowledged the strong diplomatic relations between Ghana and Japan.
