The Commanding Officer of the French Navy hydrographic vessel Borda (A792), Capitaine de Corvette Quentin Dupont, paid a courtesy call on the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, at the Naval Base, Tema, on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.
The visit forms part of professional exchanges between the Ghana Navy and the French Navy. Discussions during the meeting focused on areas of mutual interest, including hydrography, maritime domain awareness and capacity building.
Welcoming the delegation, Commodore Asiedu-Larbi reaffirmed the Ghana Navy’s long-standing partnership with the French Navy and expressed optimism that the Borda’s visit would strengthen collaboration between the two services. He emphasised the value of experience sharing and joint training in enhancing operational readiness and maritime security.
Capitaine de Corvette Dupont highlighted the importance of sustained professional engagements. He noted that the visit would help identify opportunities for future cooperation in hydrographic operations. The Commanding Officer expressed confidence that these interactions would provide a foundation for enhanced technical cooperation in subsequent engagements.
The French naval personnel and Ghanaian hydrographic specialists are scheduled to undertake technical exchanges and participate in a workshop aimed at outlining collaborative activities and capacity-building initiatives.
As a token of goodwill, Commodore Asiedu-Larbi presented a commemorative plaque to Capitaine de Corvette Dupont to mark the occasion.
Also present at the meeting was the French Defence Attaché to Ghana, Colonel Pierre Surville.
