A delegation from the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) led by the Director-General (DG), Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing on Thursday 8 May 2025.
Rear Admiral Bessing welcomed the delegation to the Headquarters and extended warm congratulations to the newly appointed GPHA Director-General, acknowledging the critical role the Authority plays in supporting the country's economy and safeguarding national interests.
The CNS emphasized the importance of bolstering maritime security along Ghana's coastline, particularly around the nation's anchorages. Rear Admiral Bessing appealed to GPHA for continued support, expressing appreciation for the Authority's corporate social responsibility initiatives benefitting the Navy.
He reaffirmed the Ghana Navy's commitment to sustained cooperation in maintaining security within the country's maritime domain.
The Director-General GPHA on his part, congratulated the CNS on his appointment and assured the Ghana Navy of the Authority's continuous support. He mentioned that the delegation's visit aimed at exploring new partnership opportunities, particularly in the Takoradi oil and gas sector, for mutual benefit and enhanced maritime security.
The GPHA's delegation included the Director of Takoradi Port, Captain Quayson, General Manager (GM) in charge of Corporate Planning, Mr Khalid Nuhu, GM in charge of Legal, Mr Joshua Nimako and the GM in-charge of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Dr Kingsly Antwi-Boasiako.
Present at the meeting were the Chief Staff Officer (CSO) at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore (Cdre) Ben Baba Abdul, outgoing Deputy CSO Policy and Plans, Cdre Faustina Anokye, DCSO Operations and Training, Cdre Stephen Nyam and Director Naval Intelligence, Commander Philip Odoi-Narh.
