Ghana Navy has formally reiterated its unwavering commitment to the protection and security of offshore infrastructure belonging to the West African Gas Pipeline Authority (WAGPA) during a courtesy visit to the Naval Headquarters in Accra.
The visit, which took place on Wednesday, 25 February 2026 at the Faidoo Hall, was led by the Director of Technical Affairs of WAGPA, Mr Alain Houha. The engagement sought to strengthen further cooperation between the Authority and the Ghana Navy in safeguarding critical energy assets within Ghana’s maritime domain.Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing, the Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore Ben Baba Abdul, expressed gratitude for the visit. He assured the delegation of the Navy’s continued dedication to providing robust maritime security to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the gas pipeline infrastructure.Mr Houha commended the Ghana Navy for its professionalism and sustained efforts in protecting the pipeline. He noted the visit underscored the Authority’s appreciation of the Navy’s role and its desire to deepen the existing partnership.The meeting concluded with discussions centred on enhancing collaboration, reinforcing strategic ties, and exploring additional measures to strengthen the security of vital offshore energy installations.
