The Leadership Training School officially closed its 2-week Water Lifeguard Course at the Junior Rate Mess, Eastern Naval Command, Tema.
The course included 18 participants drawn from the Ghana National Fire Service and several metropolitan assemblies across the Greater Accra Region. The course sought to equip trainees with practical skills, knowledge and discipline required for lifesaving operations in aquatic environments.
In his closing remarks, the Commanding Officer of LTS, Lieutenant Commander Evans Kwame Adzakloe, expressed gratitude to the organisers at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, with support from the Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit, commending the instructors and staff for their professionalism and dedication.
He congratulated the participants for their diligence and resilience throughout the training, highlighting improvements in swimming, rescue techniques, first aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and water safety. Lt Cdr Adzakloe said the competencies acquired will enhance safety at beaches and waterfronts in the Greater Accra Region, urging graduates to sustain regular practice and pursue further professional development.
The course was run in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Tourism Authority, National Disaster Management Organisation, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Maritime Authority and various metropolitan assemblies.
