Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO) Kpormego Joseph has handed over responsibilities as Master Coxswain of the Ghana Navy to MCPO Ayelvae Lawrence on Wednesday 21 May 2025 at the Naval Headquarters.
The transition saw the signing and handing over of notes to mark the end of three decades of dedicated service to the Ghana Navy by MCPO Kpormego and the beginning of the leadership for MCPO Ayelvae.
The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing who was the Guest of Honour for the ceremony, commended MCPO Kpormego for his years of selfless service to the Ghana Armed Forces and the Navy in particular.
The CNS highlighted on MCPO Kpormego’s professional acumen as a communicator whose dedication to the training and development of young sailors deserved commendation.
“Your leadership has not only enhanced operational effectiveness but also fostered a culture of excellence and professionalism within the ranks. Ghana Navy is deeply grateful to you," he added.
The outgoing Coxswain, in his farewell speech expressed his thanks and unlimited appreciation to God Almighty and the Navy High Command for the confidence reposed in him and opportunity to contribute to the development of the Ghana Navy.
He further thanked Senior officers, Officers, Ratings and Defence Civilian Staff of the Naval Headquarters for their unwavering support throughout his tenure of office. He congratulated his successor and wished him well.
MCPO Ayelvae, in his acceptance speech, expressed his appreciation to the Navy High Command for the opportunity given him, while praising the commitment of his predecessor for his outstanding leadership to the Ghana Navy. He pledged to serve with unwavering loyalty, dedication and professionalism.
