Naval Cadets of Regular Career Course (RCC) Intake 65 have successfully completed a two-week Communication Training at the School of Maritime Operations (SMOPS), Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) in Nutekpor.
The training, which ran from Monday, 29 June to Friday, 10 July 2026, was designed to introduce the cadets to essential aspects of naval operations and provide a solid foundation for their professional development as future officers of the Ghana Navy.
Throughout the programme, the cadets received both theoretical and practical instruction in Fleet Work, Communications and Ceremonials, Message Writing, Voice Procedure, Relative Velocity, Maritime Interdiction Operations and Simulation Training. The training aimed to enhance their understanding of naval communication systems, operational procedures, and bridge management, while equipping them with the competencies required for effective command and control in the maritime environment.
During an interaction with the Commanding Officer of SMOPS, Naval Captain (Capt GN) Michael Cudjoe congratulated them on completing the programme and encouraged them to remain disciplined, committed, and receptive to learning as they progress through their naval training. He reminded the cadets that effective communication is a critical component of naval operations. He urged them to build on the foundation acquired at SMOPS to become competent and professional officers capable of meeting the operational demands of the Ghana Navy.
The programme forms part of the Ghana Navy's comprehensive officer training curriculum, which seeks to develop competent, disciplined, and operationally ready officers capable of effectively carrying out their duties in both peace and wartime operations.
