The School of Maritime Operations (SMOPS) has held a closing ceremony for the Radar Plotter Specialist Qualification (SQ 1/26) Course on Friday, 8 May 2026, at the auditorium of the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Nutekpor.
The course, which marked the final stage of the trade course, aimed at equipping participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills required for effective radar plotting, navigation support, and maritime surveillance operations within the Ghana Navy.
Throughout the training period, participants were taken through both theoretical and practical lessons designed to enhance their competence in radar operations, target tracking, communication procedures, and situational awareness at sea.
In his remarks, the Guest of Honour and Acting Second-in-Command (2IC) of SMOPS, Lieutenant Commander Daniel Otu, commended the participants for their discipline, commitment, and resilience throughout the course. He noted that the successful completion of the training reflects their determination to improve professionally and contribute effectively to the operational readiness of the Ghana Navy.
Lt Cdr Otu further urged the graduands to apply the knowledge and skills acquired responsibly in the discharge of their duties, stressing the importance of professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning in modern maritime operations.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants who successfully completed the course.
