The Young Sailors Academy of the Eastern Naval Command demonstrated exceptional knowledge and skills as they emerged victorious in the second edition of the Intellect School Quiz (ISQ) competition, in the Kindergarten Category, held at the Central Cathedral, Musama Church in Tema on 3 July, 2024.
The Academy clinched the top position with an impressive score of 90 points after engaging in four rounds of challenging questions that tested their ability in various areas such as identification of sounds, Jolly phonics, dictation, identification of sight words, and reading.
Prime Academy secured the second position with 85 points, closely followed by Wilmore Christian Academy and Manhean Methodist Basic School with 83 and 80 points respectively.
The Member of Parliament for Tema East, Honourable Isaac Ashai Odamtten made the presentation to the Young Sailors for emerging winners of the competition.
The Young Sailors Academy received accolades in the form of certificates, a trophy, medals, products from sponsors, and exercise books as a token of their remarkable achievement.
Mr. Bennett Emman Raymond, the Chief Executive Officer for the ISQ, highlighted that, the competition aimed to inspire and motivate pupils from kindergarten through junior high school to surpass their existing knowledge, bridging the gap between theory and practice while instilling valuable knowledge in future leaders.
Madam Bernice Anokye Blantyne, the coach of the Young Sailors Academy, expressed pride in her students' performance, emphasizing their ability to apply their knowledge beyond the conventional, while underscoring the intent of the competition to foster a deep and specialized understanding of subjects and stimulate enjoyable learning methods that enhance general knowledge.
