Zimbabwe’s Defence Attaché (DA) to Ghana, Colonel (Col) Philip Kupe has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu on Monday 22 April 2024 at the Naval Headquarters, Burma Camp.
The Zimbabwean DA expressed keen interest in learning from the expertise from the Ghana Navy, acknowledging its impressive reputation for maritime and riverine excellence.
The DA and CNS engaged in fruitful discussions on various aspects of expertise exchange and collaboration including training, combating piracy, terrorism, new concepts in Peace Support Operations and the implementation of self-helped projects.
Rear Admiral Yakubu welcomed the Zimbabwean Defence Attaché’s interest and offered to share the Ghana Navy’s expertise in areas mentioned above. They both explored possibilities for joint exercises, training programs and intelligence sharing.
The CNS presented a plaque to the DA and also decorated him with a customized Ghana Navy hand-woven stole, with the DA also presenting a plaque to the CNS in return, to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
Present at the meeting were the Chief Staff Officer (CSO) at the Naval Headquarters, Commodore Emmanuel Kojo Atiayao, Deputy CSO in charge of Administration, Captain (GN) Bekuin Wurapa and Director Naval Intelligence, Commander Odoi-Narh.
