Eastern Naval Command (ENC) emerged as the Overall Best Team at the Group B Inter-Port Shooting Competition hosted by the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) at the Agorta Shooting Range from Wednesday 2 to Friday 4 September 2026 at Agorta, Volta Region. The 3-day competition brought together teams from ENC, NAVTRAC and Naval Headquarters/Riverine Command (NHQ/RIVCOM) to identify and select competent shooters for the provisional Ghana Navy Shooting Team.
It also provided personnel with an opportunity to improve their handling of service weapons during live firing, foster healthy competition and strengthen esprit de corps. The event formed part of preparations for the Ghana Armed Forces Inter-Service Shooting Competition, Exercise FIREBLAST 2026.
In his remarks, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) NAVTRAC, Commodore (Cdre) James Adongo Agambire, welcomed the participating teams and highlighted the value of regular shooting competitions in improving weapon proficiency, discipline and professionalism. He urged personnel to maintain high standards during training and live firing.
The FOC ENC, Cdre Raymond Kyaano, who was the guest of honour for the occasion, commended NAVTRAC for hosting the competition and encouraged participants to uphold discipline and professionalism. He urged the selected shooters to intensify their preparations for Exercise FIREBLAST 2026 and represent the Ghana Navy with distinction.
Participants competed in the M16 Standard, Carbine, Falling Plates and Pistol categories, testing their weapon-handling skills, concentration and performance under competitive conditions.
In the overall team standings, Team ENC emerged as the overall best team, with NAVTRAC placing 2nd and NHQ/RIVCOM securing 3rd position respectively.
In the Individual Category, Commander Evans Kwame Adzakloe was adjudged the Best Pistol Firer. Sub-Lieutenant Delali Dogbe emerged the Overall Best Female Firer, while Leading Seaman Ametoke Ben was adjudged Overall Best Male Firer.
The competition reaffirmed the Ghana Navy’s commitment to developing capable shooters and strengthening professional standards across its formations and units.
