The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Southern Command of the Ghana Army, Brigadier General Edward Awaribey, paid a courtesy call on the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command (WNC), Commodore Stephen Billins Nyam, at the Headquarters of the Western Naval Command on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
The visit formed part of the GOC’s engagements with troops within his Area of Responsibility (AOR), aimed at improving cooperation and enhancing collaboration among the security agencies under the command.
Commodore Nyam welcomed the GOC and his delegation to the Command and thanked them for the visit.
He congratulated him on his appointment as the GOC, Southern Command of the Ghana Army, assuring the GOC of the Command’s support in protecting the country's territorial integrity and ensuring the safety and security of the citizenry.
On his part, the GOC congratulated Commodore Nyam on his new appointment and commended the Command for its continued contribution to operations within the 2 Garrison. He stressed the need for continued collaboration among the various units of the 2 Garrison to help in addressing matters of national security.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the existing relationship between the Southern Command and the WNC in the interest of the nation.
