The Project Lead of the Creating Synergies between Indigenous Practices and Scientific Knowledge (ISIPSK), also known as the Sankofa Project, Dr. Ifesinachi Okafor-Yarwood of the University of St Andrews, Scotland, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Godwin Bessing, on 27 August 2025 at the Naval Headquarters. The visit introduced the project, which promotes sustainable fisheries by combining indigenous knowledge with science. The CNS commended the initiative and emphasised its importance to livelihoods and marine sustainability.
